Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted?
Definitely less than I expected. I had this big goal of 200,000 words for 2015 and about halfway through, I just didn't think I could make it so I cut it to 100,000. In the end, I couldn't even reach that goal. I'm a lot disappointed in myself and I really want to blame in real life priorities but that really just sounds like an excuse.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
1. JUNDAE HAVING SEX AND MAKING A STORM hahahaha. I did not see that coming. Honestly, I don't know why it isn't ficced so much but I'm glad I was able to write it.
2. canon kyumin with a super sad ending where they don't end up together. It's been so long since I wrote kyumin that I don't even know where the words came from! But I'm really glad I was able to write it despite not being around for the first 24 hours of prompt giving haha. I almost thought I wouldn't be able to get a prompt that would match my story idea.
3. MPREG jundae!!! If jundae storm-making-sex was unexpected, then this was the water in the desert miracle tbh. I love mpreg but I never thought I'd be able to write it wow. (And it wasn't as hard as I was expecting haha! It was a lot of fun even).

What's your own favorite story of the year?
It has to be You never forget (the first time)! I love the way I wrote it, very poetic in a sense with all kinds of pretty words. It almost felt like I was writing a song! I'm also so proud of myself because I was able to come up with something like that despite it being a pinch hit. Not to mention, that was my first time trying to write with that kind of voice, and I'm so pleased with it unlike some of my other fics.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
I WROTE SOMETHING WITH MPREG. I have never been pregnant before so I think that feeling of "not knowing" made me hesitant to write it, but eventually as I kept writing, I just kept going. Like most risks that I take, they don't tend to get a lot of notice but this one has taught me not to care. I should just write what I want and all the comments and kind words can just be incentive! Also, it taught me that I should write what I love reading more because it's great practice and a lot of fun (albeit being a little stressful).

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year?
I should really stop joining fic exchanges. And if I don't join fic exchanges, I SHOULD still be able to somehow produce fics! But my topmost priority this year is to write my a/b/o arranged marriage mpreg jundae chaptered fic AND to finish it. Even if I don't reach a very high word count, as long as I can finish this fic then I'd pat myself on the back!

From my past year of writing, what was…

My best story of this year: You never forget (the first time) (but tbh, I DON'T KNOW)

My most popular story of this year: Your Words, My Song (based on AO3 Kudos points lol)

Most fun story to write: love me instead, senpai! (I love the premise of the fic and despite typing this furiously on my phone for 24 hours, I just kept going and going because I could clearly see where I wanted this to go. Not to mention, the way I wrote Jongdae and Joonmyun was just amazing! I didn't even think I could do it!)

Story with the single sexiest moment: Either love me instead, senpai! where Jongdae's doing a naked apron and on top of his ass is a bow! OR Love Me Goodbye where Joonmyun bites and leaves marks all over Jongdae and, in turn, Jongdae scratches Joonmyun's back, leaving his own marks.

Most "holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: Through The Years (Ugh not gonna lie. I HATE THIS FIC. 30K of ENDLESS Jongdae whining and there was so little development. I really wish I could go back and fix it but every time I think about doing so, I'd rather just die first... tbh...)

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: I think hidden beneath (is a dream called you) did this the most. Because I was writing canon, I tried to incorporate as much of the real person's personality into my fic but at the same time, I had to bare them down, make them (especially Kyuhyun) the most vulnerable they'd ever been. So there was the struggle of holding back "my feelings of sadness" and pushing forth "possibly Kyuhyun's feelings of sadness"... which I think I failed at. To be honest, I think Kyuhyun would power through, that he wouldn't get so down/sad/hurt/pained by the things Sungmin did, or that he would've acted different.

Hardest story to write: Through The Years (IT IS THIRTY THOUSAND WORDS LONG. I WROTE IT FOR LIKE THREE MONTHS. That amount alone would've killed me. Not to mention all the problems I had with it was just a sure fire way to stress me out!)

Biggest surprise: Snowed In (MY FIRST XIULAY! I'm so proud of myself!!! Also, this fic has not been reposted to my comm because this was an fyxl admin project. You can check it out on fyxl's tumblr.)

Most unintentionally telling story: Either You never forget (the first time), except this isn't really "unintentional" as it was meant to pick apart Joonmyun's character and personality, how strong he was and what weaknesses lay beneath that smile. But I guess, what's unintentional is the way this fic wrote itself, and how my idea of who Kim Joonmyun is just came to life with this story. OR hidden beneath (is a dream called you) with the way I portrayed Kyuhyun's feelings for Sungmin, and how I used his solo album as a way to express these feelings.

Favorite Opening Lines / Introductions:
1. Joonmyun doesn't watch the results of his hard work fall part. Instead, he hears it—almost literally—explode into a million falling stars all around him.

- You never forget (the first time)

2. Jongdae watched as slowly but surely his relationship began to fall apart.

- Love Me Goodbye

Favorite Closing Lines:
1. But with nothing to do at home, Baekhyun is left hoping that someday they'll meet again.

- Glass Eyes and Brown Fur

2. Joonmyun takes the powdery essence that was once his heart in his hands but the wind blows them away. Joonmyun watches as his dream shatters and goes—never to come back, never again.

- You never forget (the first time)

3. There is no warm body to keep him warm but Kyuhyun takes what he can get. Even if it's just for a little while.

- hidden beneath (is a dream called you)

4. Joonmyun,

There will come a time for the both of us. But right now, the two of us together is just a deadly storm. I'm sorry.

Always remember that I will never love another like I love you.

Jongdae

- Love Me Goodbye

5. Jongdae has a list of things to do in the morning, but no matter what he adds or takes away, only one thing remains, kiss Joonmyun awake.

- Morning Kisses

Favorite Line(s) from Anywhere:
(I took out the five and cheated. Sorry. I JUST I COULDN'T CHOOSE!)

From Your Words, My Song
  • Here at the club, Jongin's smile stands out under the colored lights, brighter than the stage lights. Love has never looked so beautiful.

  • Jongin falls asleep to a heaviness on his back. It doesn't feel like a body pressed up against him. It feels like the weight of a stare, or the guilt one drowns in before sleep comes and takes them away.

  • With his pen as his eyes and the words as his tears, together with his heart, Kyungsoo makes a poem.

  • “Love is you,” Jongin reads aloud, words heavy with meaning, heart so full with emotion.

  • It doesn't matter how much Jongin's burned him, Kyungsoo's home is this band—Jongin's music.

  • When Kyungsoo opens his eyes, he sees the happiness painted on Jongin's face and he knows that, despite all the pain, he will always, always love Jongin.

From Glass Eyes and Brown Fur
  • Baekhyun takes everything in and relishes in the gaze of his master. For the first time, he feels like he knows what it means to love.

  • Baekhyun opens and closes his mouth. A part of him wants to say he feels the same, that he likes Chanyeol, too, but it doesn't feel right. It doesn't feel enough.

  • But then it dawns on him, his master and Chanyeol's master are going to marry each other someday. Maybe, just maybe, through this Baekhyun will have his chance.

From You never forget (the first time)
  • It's love because he fought for it with everything he had and he came back alive.

  • Joonmyun wakes up with tears in his eyes and fire in his veins—a resolve for a new dream.

  • I've made it, Joonmyun thinks.

From hidden beneath (is a dream called you)
  • Kyuhyun blames it especially hard on his heart that still longs for something it already lost.

  • All these flashbacks play like a movie and Kyuhyun looks at his hands with blurred tears but these are all he sees.

  • For the first time in his life, Kyuhyun finally understands what it means to be honest with himself and it hurts. It hurts so bad.

  • As Kyuhyun keeps typing, more memories come to his mind, from recent ones to ones from long ago that they almost feel like dreams. They come to him in waves that grow bigger, pulling him in their tide, and slowly but surely drowning him in their pressure.

  • Kyuhyun takes in a shuddering breath as he pictures Sungmin's smile—so soft and beautiful, never anything but.

  • I'm sorry I never told you I loved you when it mattered and I'm sorry that I can't open my arms to you anymore.

From The Picture of Us
  • They start off a little shaky as they haven't sung this song together in a while but the lyrics come to them naturally and it helps as they begin to harmonize, begin to sing as beautifully as they are meant to do. They look into each other's eyes singing this song not only for the boys but for themselves as well. And even when they end, the magic that has them wrapped around each other never leaves. Will never really leave.

From Love Me Goodbye
  • Joonmyun always had cool fingers and when they touched Jongdae's feverish skin, it was as if he was breathing for the first time. Joonmyun made him feel like he was drowning in a cool ocean, his sparks of electricity reacting violently within him. It was out of control. It was magic. It was love.

  • You, Jongdae almost said, but he held it in. He wasn't going to say it. He wasn't going to fall for that trap. Not again.

  • These feelings of warmth and love, of hate and anger, would all go away soon and he'd be left with only the ghost of the memories.

  • Joonmyun made stars explode behind his eyes and when he opened them, Jongdae couldn't tell what was going on. He burned from so many places and others sparked like firecrackers from within. It felt so different and yet, at the same time, it was all the same, the same old fire, lightning and water, burning and crackling, and then he gasped.

  • Lightning roared as Jongdae came, gasping and groaning as Joonmyun kept him trapped in his arms, close to his own release. When Joonmyun finally came, the storm began, rain and thunder singing a chorus as Joonmyun panted and shuddered deep inside of Jongdae.

Top 5 Scenes from Anywhere You Would Choose to Have Illustrated:
1. Jongdae with his back facing the doorway, in just an apron, his head slightly turned, and on top of his butt, the apron's ribbon tied into a nice and perfect bow.

In Conclusion
I think I started out pretty well with all the January fics I finished and posted and ended sort of well since I'm partially satisfied with my last fic of the year which was Love Me Goodbye. The middle stages were not so good but I guess, I was just having a hard time adjusting to life and ficcing. All in all it's both 50/50 for me last 2015. I do hope it gets better with 2016.
